Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: Saudi Arabia is shifting from the industrial revolution to the intelligence revolution, according to the Saudi Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Alswaha.
The minister made these remarks in a panel session during the World Economic Forum (WEF) Special Meeting on Global Collaboration, Growth, and Energy for Development.
During the session, titled ‘AI, Productivity, Work: Can We Have it All?’, Alswaha explored the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on economic growth across various fields.
He said that the Kingdom has $100 trillion of economic output, with $32 trillion attributed to labor force output.
“Out of that $32 trillion, $1 trillion is being augmented, accelerated, and democratized by AI or generative AI,” Alswaha elaborated.
He noted that over the next five to seven years, AI contribution is projected to reach 14%, representing 43% of the labor force productivity that potentially could be accelerated, augmented, or democratized and disrupted.
Furthermore, Alswaha emphasized the importance of achieving co-intelligence and how humans and machines could co-exist within this artificial intelligence era or the artificial general intelligence (AGI) era.
The WEF Special Meeting convenes in Riyadh, gathering more than 1,000 world leaders from all sectors and industries.
It aims to contribute to a more stable and inclusive economic future by leveraging global cooperation for economic development, promoting a global energy transition that underpins sustainable development, and advancing technological advancement.
