Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: Saudia Group, owner of the Saudi flag carrier Saudia and the low-cost airline Flyadeal, concluded a firm order agreement with Airbus to buy an additional 105 A320neo Family aircraft, raising its Airbus aircraft order backlog to 144 A320neo family aircraft, a recent statement revealed.

The order includes 12 A320neo and 93 A321neo aircraft

The agreement was signed by Ibrahim Al-Omar, Director General of Saudia Group, and Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Executive Vice President of Sales of the Commercial Aircraft Business at Airbus, on the sidelines of the Future Aviation Forum 2024 (FAF 2024).

The signing ceremony was attended by the Saudi Minister of Transport and Logistics Services Saleh Al-Jasser as well as senior officials and experts in the aviation industry.

This agreement fuels the group’s ambitious strategy to connect the world with Saudi Arabia and solidifies its leading role in key national strategies that align with Vision 2030.

“Saudia has ambitious operational objectives to meet growing demand. We are increasing flights and seat capacity across our existing 100+ destinations on four continents, with plans for further expansion,” Al-Omar stated.

For his part, Saint-Exupér affirmed that the new agreement will enable Saudia Group’s strategy to advance the Kingdom’s aviation capabilities while enabling both airlines to benefit from the A320neo Family’s exceptional efficiency, superior economics, the highest level of passenger comfort as well as lower fuel-burn and emissions.

The A320 Family is the world’s most popular single-aisle aircraft having won over 18,000 orders from over 300 customers in all markets. The A321neo incorporates new generation engines and Sharklets, bringing a 50% noise reduction and at least 20% fuel savings.
