
Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: The International Air Transport Association (IATA) plans to open a regional headquarters in Riyadh, triggered by the splendid performance of the Saudi aviation sector, IATA’s Regional Vice President for Africa and Middle East Kamil Al-Awadhi revealed.
IATA aims to promote the aviation industry, upgrade commercial standards, and support airlines by facilitating processes and enhancing passengers’ experience while reducing costs, Al-Awadhi stated in an interview with Asharq Al Awsat newspaper on the sidelines of the Future Aviation Forum 2024 (FAF 2024).
He noted that the global organization anticipates air traffic and passenger numbers in the Middle East to increase by up to 6% in 2024, compared to 2023.
The third edition of FAF 2024 takes place in Riyadh from 20 to 22 May, gathering over 5,000 industry experts and more than 70 presidents of civil aviation authorities and global aviation leaders from around the world.
It focuses on elevating global connectivity and targets boosting aviation collaboration through global partnerships and fostering innovation, sustainable air travel, and cultural exchange.
The FAF 2024 serves as a platform for global leaders in the aviation sector to offer unparalleled knowledge exchange and business opportunities.
The Kingdom is expected to unveil investment opportunities amounting to $100 billion during this three-day event to accelerate the Saudi Aviation Strategy.
