Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: Saudi Ports Authority (MAWANI) and Global Environmental Management Services (REVIVA), a subsidiary of Saudi Investment Recycling Co. (SIRC), inked a SAR 30 million (USD 8 million) contract to construct a marine and industrial waste recycling complex at the Jeddah Islamic Port.
The facility shall extend on a 10,000 square-meter space, according to a statement by MAWANI.
The agreement was signed by Omar bin Talal Hariri, Head of MAWANI, and Ziad bin Mohammed Al-Shiha, CEO of SIRC in the presence of other officials.
The complex will contribute to further increasing the utilization of waste, transforming it into valuable resources, and building a prosperous circular economy in the Kingdom, by providing comprehensive solutions for waste management and recycling.
In addition, it will contribute to industrial maintenance services, sub-product recycling, and transportation services, leading to the decrease of the size of waste generated to the lowest level, which improves waste management processes and preserving the environment, the statement added.
This comes as part of MAWANI’s efforts to enhance environment sustainability, maintain the integrity of the marine environment, and build a sustainable maritime sector, which bolster the Kingdom’s position as a global logistics hub that connects three continents, in line with the National Transport and Logistics Strategy and the Green Ports Initiative.
