Riyadh – Sharikat Mubasher: The General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) launched the region’s first specialized statistics innovation lab.
The lab is designed to foster partnerships with researchers, data scientists, and innovators from universities, research centers, statistical societies, and innovation hubs, according to the Authority’s announcement.
Its goal is to drive advancements in statistical practices and methodologies while supporting Saudi Vision 2030.
This initiative demonstrates GASTAT’s commitment to staying ahead of economic and social developments by innovating in statistical measurements and indicators. The lab aims to produce accurate, high-quality data that supports comprehensive and sustainable development efforts.
The lab identifies key research topics and invites target groups to submit proposals through the Statistical Innovation Platform.
Selected proposals are developed collaboratively by joint teams of applicants and GASTAT experts over six weeks. After evaluation by a technical committee, approved projects will be incorporated into GASTAT’s statistical products.
By advancing statistical practices and integrating innovative solutions, the lab seeks to create data, indicators, and products that accurately reflect Saudi Arabia’s evolving economic and social landscape. It also empowers community-driven innovation and strengthens the authority’s offerings to meet national development goals.
