
Riyadh – Sharikat Mubasher: Aramco and Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD signed a Joint Development Agreement to explore closer collaboration in new energy vehicle (NEV) technologies.
According to Aramco’s press release, the deal was signed by Saudi Aramco Technologies Company (SATC), a wholly owned subsidiary of Aramco, and BYD, a global leader in electric vehicles and power batteries.
The partnership aims to develop innovative solutions that enhance the efficiency and environmental performance of next-generation vehicles. The agreement combines the R&D strengths of both companies to accelerate breakthroughs in NEV technology.
Ali A. Al-Meshari, Aramco’s Senior Vice President of Technology Oversight & Coordination, emphasized the company’s commitment to transport efficiency, citing efforts in low-carbon fuels and advanced powertrains. “This work stems from our belief that multiple approaches are necessary to support a practical energy transition, and we are delighted to collaborate with BYD on this journey,” he said.
Luo Hongbin, BYD Senior Vice President, highlighted the importance of collaboration in driving environmental progress, saying the partnership could yield high-performance, low-carbon solutions that contribute to global climate goals.
