Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: The demand for artificial intelligence (AI) on mobile is accelerating, driven by the growing interest in AI following the release of various generative AI (GenAI) applications, such as ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Grok, and others.

In Saudi Arabia, the downloads for GenAI applications reached 21 million during the first half (H1) of 2025, making a half-on-half (HoH) growth of 61.5%, according to a recent report by Sensor Tower.

The State of AI Apps Report 2025 revealed that GenAI in-app purchase (IAP) revenue in Saudi Arabia surpassed $28 million in H1-25, with an HoH increase of 117.8%.

Breaking down the Generative AI genre into its two primary functions, AI Assistants and AI Content Generators, reveals that AI Assistants accounted for the majority of downloads in Q2-25, with 11.3 million downloads.

Users spent 170 million hours in GenAI applications in H1-25, showing an 87.8% HoH rise, while the total sessions for GenAI applications in Saudi Arabia jumped by 77.6% to exceed 5.8 billion in H1-25.

Moreover, the IAP revenue in the Middle East recorded $81.7 million in H1-25, compared to $35.3 million in H2-24.
