Muscat – Sharikat Mubasher: Oman’s ITHCA Group injected $20 million investment in U.S.-based Movandi to accelerate the Sultanate’s semiconductor and smart communications ecosystem as part of Oman Vision 2040.
The partnership will see the establishment of a national innovation centre for chips and smart connectivity, alongside initiatives to enhance knowledge transfer, talent development, and AI-enabled research, as reported by the Oman Daily Observer.
Movandi is also setting up a new R&D office in Muscat, focusing on next-generation communications technologies.
Said bin Abdullah Al Mandhari, ITHCA CEO, said the collaboration reflects Oman’s strategy to forge quality partnerships with global tech leaders and build an integrated local ecosystem that strengthens the country’s position as a regional hub for future technologies and the digital economy.
Maryam Rofougaran, Movandi co-founder, described the tie-up as a strategic bridge between Silicon Valley and Oman to advance innovations in 5G, satellite communications, and fixed wireless access (FWA).
Movandi specializes in RF chipsets, beamforming systems, and smart antennas designed to enhance performance and reduce costs across both urban and remote networks. Its Muscat office, supported by ITHCA, will act as a regional centre for research, development, and collaboration in smart communications and AI.
