Saudi PoS spending record SAR 180 bn in Q4-25

PoS sales in Saudi Arabia record SAR 180 buillion in Q4-25, made through 3 billion transactions

Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: Saudi Point-of-Sale (PoS) sales reached a substantial SAR 180 billion in the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2025, marking the second-highest quarterly volume since Q4-23. This figure came close to the previous peak of SAR 181 billion set in Q1-25, highlighting a consistently robust consumer spending environment and underscoring the strength and resilience of the Kingdom's retail and digital payment sectors.

According to figures released by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA), the total number of PoS transactions reached 3 billion in Q4-25, while the number of PoS terminals slightly rose to 2.3 million from 2.2 million in the previous quarter.

The food and beverages (F&B) sector recorded the highest PoS sales at SAR 27.7 billion through 697.3 million transactions, followed by the restaurants and cafés sector, which registered PoS sales of SAR 21.8 billion, made through 750.2 million transactions.

Additionally, the total number of e-commerce transactions made via Mada cards hit 513 million in Q4-25, generating sales worth SAR 90.9 billion.

Moreover, the Saudi PoS sales recorded SAR 61 billion in December 2025, up from SAR 59 billion in the previous month. The number of PoS transactions saw a humble increase to 1 billion in December from 998 million in November 2025.

Egypt to inaugurate AI Everything MEA 2026
Cairo – Sharikat Mubasher: Egypt will host the first edition of the AI Everything Middle East & Africa Summit and Exhibition from 11 to 12 February 2026, at the Egypt International Exhibition Center in Cairo, underscoring the country’s growing regional leadership in artificial intelligence.Organized by GITEX GLOBAL under the auspices of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, and in strategic partnership with the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), the summit will bring together participants from more than 60 countries, including global technology companies, policymakers, investors, startups, and AI experts.Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, said Egypt’s hosting of the summit “reflects the international community’s confidence in Egypt’s human and technological capabilities, and its commitment to using artificial intelligence to drive economic and social development.”The event marks the first time AI Everything is held as a fully independent summit dedicated to the Middle East and Africa, building on Egypt’s national AI journey that began with the establishment of the National Artificial Intelligence Council in 2019, followed by the launch of its National AI Strategy in 2021 and the Responsible AI Charter in 2023.Trixie Loh Mirmand, Executive Vice President at Dubai World Trade Centre, said Egypt has “strong foundations for digital transformation, backed by a deep talent pool and a dynamic innovation ecosystem capable of turning digital ambition into real-world impact.”Egypt’s second National AI Strategy (2025–2030) focuses on expanding AI adoption across priority sectors, strengthening governance, supporting startups, and developing local talent. These efforts have helped Egypt rank first in Africa in the 2025 Government AI Readiness Index by Oxford Insights.Ahmed El-Zaher, CEO of ITIDA, said hosting the summit “crowns Egypt’s efforts to build an integrated technology ecosystem that supports innovation, entrepreneurship, and positions the country as a key player in shaping the future of artificial intelligence.”The summit will spotlight AI applications across government, fintech, healthcare, cybersecurity, data centers, robotics, and digital infrastructure, positioning Cairo as a central hub for regional and international AI dialogue.
