PoS sales in Kingdom surpass SAR 189 bn in Q1-26

PoS sales in Saudi Arabia surpassed SAR 189 billion in Q1-26, with F&B sector accounting for the largest share at SAR 30 billion

Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: Point-of-sale (PoS) systems in Saudi Arabia have become an essential tool for modern businesses, as they meet local needs, comply with local regulations, and integrate with popular payment methods.

The monthly bulletin released by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) showed that PoS sales in the Kingdom reached SAR 189.7 billion in the first quarter (Q1) of 2026, processed through 2.9 billion transactions, up from SAR 180 billion in the previous quarter. The total number of PoS terminals rose to 2.4 million in Q1-26 from 2.3 million in Q4-25.

The food and beverage (F&B) sector accounted for the largest share of PoS sales in Q1-26 at SAR 29.9 billion, followed by the restaurants and cafés sector, which achieved sales amounting to over SAR 20.8 billion.

In March, PoS sales in Saudi Arabia registered SAR 66 billion through 997 million transactions, up from SAR 59.8 billion in February. PoS sales in the F&B sector exceeded SAR 9.9 billion, while the restaurants and cafés sector achieved sales worth SAR 7 billion.

Moreover, the number of e-commerce transactions processed through Mada cards reached 547.7 million in Q1-26, with sales amounting to over SAR 98 billion.
