Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: The Saudi Authority for Data and Artificial Intelligence (SDAIA) harnessed artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to create a more sustainable environment as part of its efforts to support the Saudi Green Initiative (SGI), according to the authority’s recent statement.
On the official day of the SGI, SDAIA showcased its efforts to achieve the initiative's goals in partnership with several government entities.
The authority launched the Smart Planet program that leverages the potential AI technologies to develop innovative resource sustainability solutions, in addition to launching the AI Center for Environment, Water, and Agriculture in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture.
The center targets innovating AI-powered solutions to achieve sustainability in the environment, water, and agriculture sectors.
SDAIA also launched the National Smart Cities Platform (Smart C) that leverages data and AI technologies to monitor and analyze operational indicators across Riyadh, making predictions that support the development and management of infrastructure and urban services in the city.
Furthermore, SDAIA and the Saudi Ministry of Energy established the Artificial Intelligence Center for Energy (AICE) to drive the AI agenda in the energy sector and help achieve the SGI’s goals of reducing carbon emissions.
Moreover, the authority organized the Global Smart Cities Forum which gathered distinguished experts in the fields of AI and smart city-building to set basic rules that support city improvement plans to achieve sustainable urban development, in conjunction with the SGI.
It is worth noting that the Kingdom set 27 March of each year as the official day of the SGI.
