Dubai - Sharikat Mubasher: Verbatica, an education technology (edtech) startup based in UAE, secured $700,000 from angel investors to launch its AI-powered language learning platform in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
Demo testing for the platform is scheduled to start on 15 August while the official launch is expected to be by the end of August, according to the company’s statement.
Verbatica’s expansion plan also includes launching its platform in Indonesia and Asia.
The edtech startup aspires to raise another $2 million in subsequent funding next November.
Founded by Nikita Savilov and Nikolay Morozov, Verbatica harnesses adaptive AI technology to enhance language learning effectiveness and enable users to learn independently or with a teacher, gathering all educational materials in one platform, including dictionaries and flashcards.
Savilov, who is also Verbatica’s CEO, said: “We chose the UAE to launch the project because it is a country with a high level of migration, where people from all over the world live.”
Verbatica’s Language Quotient (LQ) feature assesses language proficiency across five aspects: reading, listening, writing, speaking, and cultural features. This includes deep immersion in the language’s culture through books, movies, customs, history, slang, and social media trends, providing users with a comprehensive understanding of the language in context.
