Cairo – Sharikat Mubasher:  Paymob, the leading financial services enabler in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), announced that its extensive merchant network in Egypt can now accept Apple Pay.

According to an official press release, this development enables consumers to use their Apple devices to make seamless and secure purchases in-store, in-app, and online, marking a major milestone in Egypt's digital payments landscape following the recent introduction of Apple Pay in the country.

Through Paymob’s integration with Apple Pay, merchants across Egypt can now offer their customers a secure, private, and easy payment experience. To pay in stores, customers can simply double-click the side button and hold their iPhone or Apple Watch near a payment terminal to complete a contactless transaction. Each Apple Pay purchase is safeguarded by authentication methods such as Face ID, Touch ID, or a device passcode, combined with a one-time dynamic security code.

In addition to in-store payments, customers can use Apple Pay on iPhone, iPad, and Mac for faster and more convenient transactions in apps or on merchant websites that support the platform, without the need to create accounts or repeatedly enter card details, shipping, and billing information.

For merchants, the adoption of Apple Pay offers several benefits, including reducing cart abandonment, increasing sales, and meeting consumer demand for modern digital payment options. This launch aligns with Paymob’s mission to empower businesses of all sizes to thrive in the digital economy by providing access to advanced technologies that enhance sales and improve customer experiences.

Mina Makar, VP of Product at Paymob, commented: “This is a pivotal moment for Egypt's payments landscape. With Apple Pay now available, merchants have access to a solution loved by consumers globally. The widespread adoption of Apple Pay today demonstrates its transformative potential. At Paymob, we are committed to enabling businesses to tap into this market potential, driving their growth and success in the digital economy.”

Paymob was the first fintech company to receive the Central Bank of Egypt’s (CBE) Payments Facilitator license in 2018. It remains the region’s most comprehensive payment provider, offering merchants access to over 50 payment methods and enabling seamless payment acceptance across multiple channels.
