Google invests $1bn in its cloud infrastructure in Dammam

Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: Google, a leading global technology company, injected strategic investments in artificial intelligence and cloud computing to advance innovation and support Saudi Arabia’s digital transformation goals.

According to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Google has invested $1 billion in its cloud infrastructure in the Dammam region, enabling access to reliable, high-performance services with low latency for clients in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East.

From its offices in the Kingdom, the tech giant also working to enhance Arabic language capabilities within the ‘Gemini’ application, one of the world’s most advanced generative AI models. Additionally, Google trained 19,000 individuals on Google Cloud services and cutting-edge cloud technologies through various specialized training programs.

These achievements were highlighted during a meeting between Abdullah Alswaha, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, and Ruth Porat, President and Chief Investment Officer of Alphabet and Google.

The discussion focused on strengthening strategic cooperation in AI, data analytics, and cloud computing to drive innovation in Saudi Arabia.

While attending the 2025 World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, Alswaha also held a series of meetings with ministers and global business leaders to explore opportunities for digital investments and partnerships.
