Riyadh – Sharikat Mubasher: Akin, a leading global law firm providing innovative legal services and business solutions to clients worldwide, is set to expand its presence in Saudi Arabia with the launch of a new Riyadh office later this year, appointing Alexander Malahias to help lead the venture.

According to a recent press release, Malahias will initially be based in Akin’s Abu Dhabi office until the firm secures its license to operate in the Kingdom.

The Riyadh office is a key part of Akin’s long-term growth strategy, reflecting the firm’s commitment to serving Saudi Arabia’s rapidly evolving market. Abid Qureshi, Akin co-chair elect said: “Our upcoming launch in the Kingdom is a significant step forward. Our practice strengths are tailored to meet the needs of Saudi Arabia, where we see continued growth and demand for trusted advisors with local expertise.”

Malahias brings extensive experience advising clients on major projects across the Kingdom, including partnerships with Red Sea Global and NEOM. His background spans key sectors such as energy transition, large-scale tourism, real estate, oil and gas, petrochemicals, power, and infrastructure.

Sebastian Rice, partner-in-charge of Akin’s international markets added: “Alex’s deep understanding of Saudi Arabia’s legal landscape and his track record in high-profile deals make him a valuable addition to our regional team. His presence in the Kingdom will enable us to provide seamless support to clients operating in this dynamic market.”

Malahias welcomed the opportunity to play a role in Akin’s expansion in Saudi Arabia. “I’m excited to join Akin as it builds its presence in the Kingdom. The firm’s ambitious plans and market-leading expertise present a unique opportunity to deliver lasting impact for clients in Saudi Arabia,” he said.
