Riyadh – Sharikat Muasher: In a strategic move to advance Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and localize military spending, the General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI) inaugurated BAE Systems Arabian Industries at the company’s new headquarters in Riyadh.
According to GAMI’s announcement, the launch ceremony was attended by senior officials and leaders in the defense sector.
Ahmad Abdulaziz Al-Ohali, Governor of GAMI, described the launch as “a major step forward” in boosting local content and national capabilities in the military industries sector. He emphasized that the new company will unify efforts in military spending localization, training, capability development, and supply chain management under one integrated umbrella.
BAE Systems Arabian Industries is the result of a merger between two prominent Saudi firms: BAE Systems Saudi Development and Training (SDT) and the Saudi Maintenance and Supply Chain Management Company (SMSCMC). The combined entity aims to transfer global expertise, nurture Saudi talent, and strengthen the country’s industrial self-reliance.
During his tour of the company’s facilities, Al-Ohali visited various departments, including supply chains, capability development, shared services, and the training academy. He praised the collaborative efforts between public and private sectors in attracting investment and technology transfer.
The launch reflects Saudi Arabia’s rapid progress in defense industrialization and its ambition to localize over 50% of its military expenditure by 2030.
