Riyadh – Sharikat Mubasher: Mitsubishi Power, the power solutions brand of Japan’s Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, is deepening its commitment to Saudi Arabia with new investments in manufacturing, clean energy technology, and talent development to support the Kingdom’s energy transition.

Javier Cavada, President & CEO for EMEA at Mitsubishi Power, revealed that the company is building a gas turbine assembly plant in Dammam, as reported by Zawya.

He commented: “We are now taking this a step further and building a gas turbine assembly plant in Dammam for our advanced, high-efficiency M501 gas turbines. This is an example of our commitment to the region. Once operational, this facility will reduce electricity generation costs and improve delivery times.”

The company already operates Aramco-accredited service and repair centers in Dammam for rotors and gas turbine components. It is also supporting the iktva program by training Saudi talent both locally and in Japan through its National Program.

Mitsubishi Power is also contributing to the Kingdom’s 2060 net-zero target through hydrogen-ready gas turbine technologies. Among its major projects in the Kingdom, the company is supplying turbines to Saudi Electricity Company’s Rumah-1 and Al-Nairyah-1 power plants, which will add 3.6 GW of capacity, which is equivalent to around 2.5 percent of the Kingdom’s total grid. It is also delivering its latest M501JAC turbines for the SATORP power plant, a facility set to power one of the world’s largest petrochemical complexes.

Cavada concluded that Mitsubishi Power is committed to continuing to advance hydrogen and other decarbonization technologies to help industries across sectors reduce emissions and transition toward a low-carbon economy.
