Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: Saudi Arabia laid the cornerstone for the Hexagon data center in Riyadh, the world’s largest government data center classified as Tier IV, formally entering the global race for building massive hyperscale data centers.

Driven by the National Strategy for Data and AI, the new center will span more than 30 million square feet and boast a capacity of up to 480 MW, according to a recent official statement.

The Hexagon data center will leverage advanced technologies to support the Kingdom’s developmental sectors, serving as the seed for a future network of centers that will be established across the Kingdom. It will meet the U.S. Green Building Council’s advanced LEED Gold standards for energy-efficient and sustainably designed facilities, combining technical performance with environmental responsibility.

The center will also employ innovative solutions that utilize cutting-edge technologies in energy efficiency and smart cooling, including direct liquid cooling and hybrid cooling systems, to achieve the lowest power usage effectiveness.

Moreover, Hexagon data center obtained international accreditations for applying the global TIA-942 standard, and will integrate renewable energy as a sustainable power source.
