
Riyadh – Sharikat Mubasher: Aramco signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Terra Drone Corporation, the world’s No.1 drone service provider in 2024, to explore the use of drones, robotics, and AI-driven solutions in the energy sector.
According to a recent press release, the partnership supports Aramco’s commitment to innovation, safety, and localization as part of Saudi Arabia’s broader economic transformation.
The agreement, signed by Khalid Y. Alqahtani, Aramco Senior Vice President of Engineering Services, and Toru Tokushige, Founder & CEO of Terra Drone Corporation, will drive research, technology development, and workforce training to enhance Aramco’s operational efficiency. By integrating advanced drone technologies, Aramco aims to optimize inspections, improve safety measures, and increase automation in its oil and gas operations.
Terra Drone, backed by Wa’ed Ventures since 2023, has established Terra Drone Arabia to localize its services, develop R&D facilities, and create job opportunities for Saudi talent. The partnership with Aramco is expected to accelerate the deployment of cutting-edge drone technologies tailored to the energy industry’s evolving needs.
Alqahtani emphasized Aramco’s focus on leveraging emerging technologies to strengthen its global competitiveness, stating: "This collaboration reflects Aramco’s commitment to driving innovation and supporting localization in the energy sector. By integrating AI-powered drone solutions, we aim to enhance efficiency, safety, and sustainability while developing local capabilities that contribute to Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030."
