
Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: Saudi Arabia's Point of Sale (PoS) activity is surging, reflecting the Kingdom's rapid shift towards a cashless and digital economy. Driven by increased consumer adoption and government initiatives, PoS transactions are becoming a cornerstone of the retail landscape.
The PoS sales in Saudi Arabia registered SAR 57.8 billion in February through 882 million transactions, showing a slight drop from SAR 58.2 billion in January, according to recent figures from the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA).
SAMA’s monthly bulletin showed that the number of PoS terminals across Saudi Arabia rose to 2.03 million in February from 2.01 million in the previous month.
The food and beverages (F&B) sector secured the largest share of PoS sales at SAR 9.1 billion, followed by the restaurants and cafés sector, which achieved sales valued at SAR 8 billion.
Furthermore, the number of e-commerce transactions made using Mada cards totaled 111.8 million in February, with sales of SAR 20.8 billion.
