Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: Together AI, a research-driven AI cloud infrastructure provider based in San Francisco, is in talks to work on data center facilities in Saudi Arabia in partnership with the Saudi AI company, HUMAIN.
It is not clear if Together would actually own any of the facilities or hardware based overseas; however, it recently secured capital from Aramco’s venture arm, as reported by The Information.
The company is also beginning to make its own substantial purchases of NVIDIA graphics processing units to grow its capacity. Buying chips instead of leasing them could help Together lower costs and meet higher demand from customers.
By owning AI hardware, Together aims to improve its gross profit margins after a surge in revenue in its server-rental business.
It is worth noting that Saudi Arabia is focusing on building large hyperscale data centers alongside smaller edge facilities to support cloud computing, AI development, and sovereign data hosting.
