Agreements aim to boost infrastructure readiness and attract global tech investments

Riyadh – Sharikat Mubasher: The Saudi Ministry of Investment announced the signing of two agreements to establish a Tier III data center, marking another step in the Kingdom’s push to strengthen its digital infrastructure and position itself as a regional technology hub. As per the Ministry’s press release, this project is being developed in collaboration with Integrated Dawiyat for Telecom & Information Technology and Saudi Energy, under the umbrella of the Private Sector Partnership Program (Shareek).

The planned facility will have a capacity of 16 megawatts and is designed to meet Tier III standards, ensuring high reliability and uptime for critical digital services. The initiative is part of broader efforts to enhance the Kingdom’s infrastructure readiness as demand for cloud services, data storage, and advanced digital applications continues to grow.

Beyond infrastructure, the project aims to localize data hosting within Saudi Arabia, reducing reliance on overseas data centers while improving data sovereignty and security. It is also expected to boost the efficiency and quality of digital services across sectors, supporting the expansion of technologies such as the Internet of Things and smart city solutions.

The agreements further reflect Saudi Arabia’s strategy to attract high-quality investments and global technology companies, reinforcing its ambition to become a leading regional hub for data centers and digital innovation in line with Vision 2030 objectives.
