Riyadh – Sharikat Mubasher: Lenovo has brought its manufacturing ambitions in Saudi Arabia to the production floor, unveiling its first locally made laptop at LEAP 2026.
Produced at Lenovo’s manufacturing facility in Riyadh, the laptop marks a step forward in the company’s plans to establish a technology manufacturing and innovation ecosystem in the Kingdom. The facility is expected to begin mass production of selected products in late 2026, supporting local industrial capabilities while serving Lenovo’s regional and global operations.
Tareq Alangari, Senior Vice President and President of Lenovo Middle East, Türkiye and Africa, said the milestone reflects the impact of long-term investment, local talent and Saudi Arabia’s national ambitions.
Lenovo has expanded its Saudi footprint over the past year, including the establishment of its Middle East, Türkiye and Africa regional headquarters in Riyadh and plans to develop local research and development capabilities.
The company is also working with ALAT, the Human Resources Development Fund and the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources to develop Saudi engineering talent. The first cohort of Saudi engineers has completed specialized training at Lenovo’s global manufacturing facilities as part of the initiative.
The Riyadh facility is Lenovo’s first manufacturing site globally designed to produce its full portfolio, including PCs, desktops, Motorola smartphones and servers. It adds to Lenovo’s global production network of more than 30 sites across 11 countries.
At LEAP 2026, Lenovo is also showcasing AI-driven solutions for industries in Saudi Arabia, including robotic inspection technology aimed at improving efficiency, reducing manual work and enhancing safety in sectors such as oil and gas, power and utilities.
The fifth edition of LEAP 2026 runs from 31 August to 3 September at the Riyadh Exhibition and Convention Center in Malham, north of Riyadh.
The event is expected to attract more than 1,000 global speakers and experts, 1,800 technology companies, 600 startups and 1,900 investors and venture capital representatives, highlighting Saudi Arabia’s growing role as a hub for technology and innovation.
