Riyadh – Sharikat Mubasher: The growing partnership between Saudi Arabia and the Nordic European countries marks a new chapter in global economic collaboration.

Despite the geographical distance, companies from Nordic nations, including Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, and Iceland, are increasingly establishing their regional headquarters in the Kingdom.

Majid Al Hokair, Chairman of the Saudi Business Council of the Nordic European Countries in the Federation of Saudi Chambers gave several examples of Nordic investments in Saudi Arabia in an interview with Al Ekhbariya.

One of the most prominent examples of these investment is Maersk, the Danish logistics giant. Maersk has taken a significant step in strengthening Saudi Arabia's logistics capabilities by establishing a state-of-the-art logistics park in Jeddah Islamic Port.

In the medical sector, Denmark-based companies are enhancing Saudi Arabia’s healthcare infrastructure through medical devices and innovative health solutions. A significant area of progress is the localization of diabetic medications, addressing the rising prevalence of diabetes within the Kingdom.

This initiative involves partnerships with global pharmaceutical companies, including Nordic firms, to establish manufacturing facilities, transfer technology, and enhance local research and development capabilities.

By localizing the production of Danish pharmaceutical products, Saudi Arabia aims to ensure a steady supply of high-quality diabetic medications, reduce dependency on imports, and strengthen its healthcare infrastructure.

Speaking of the future, Al Hokair also revealed that Saudi Arabia will cooperate with Norway to launch a number of Salmon fish farming projects to be able to address the Kingdom’s high consumption which created a huge demand in this particular industry.
