Riyadh – Sharikat Mubasher: NEOM, Saudi Arabia’s futuristic megaproject, is investing $5 billion in next-generation AI infrastructure, according to Rayan Fayez, Deputy CEO of NEOM.
Speaking at the Saudi-U.S. Investment Forum, Fayez said the project aims to establish one of the world’s most advanced digital ecosystems. He emphasized that NEOM has already laid a strong foundation in the sector, attracting significant private and commercial capital, with U.S. firms playing a major role through sizable investment commitments.
Fayez highlighted that NEOM is not just building a smart city or economic zone but is redefining global infrastructure models through trusted partnerships and private sector confidence. The project spans 26,500 square kilometers—nearly the size of Massachusetts—and has already completed over 5,000 km of fiber-optic networks, a state-of-the-art data center, and renewable energy systems including solar and wind farms.
NEOM has also laid nearly 300 km of water pipelines and is constructing a full-scale food production and distribution ecosystem, along with social infrastructure housing over 5,000 beds.
He also revealed that NEOM is developing the world’s largest green hydrogen plant in partnership with ACWA Power and U.S.-based Air Products, with an investment of $8.4 billion, solidifying NEOM’s role as a global hub for sustainable energy.
