Riyadh – Sharikat Mubasher: Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD plans to introduce more than seven new EV models to the Saudi market in the coming months, with a gradual rollout across the wider Middle East, Stella Li, BYD Vice President, told Al Eqtisadiah.
Li said that Saudi Arabia’s resources and advanced infrastructure position it as a potential hub for battery supply chains and energy technologies. She added that the new models will give consumers a firsthand look at BYD’s EV technology, though the company is not currently in direct talks with the Saudi government or private sector about new investments.
BYD began Saudi operations in 2024 and now runs three showrooms, with plans to open seven more by mid-2026.
Saudi Arabia, meanwhile, is pushing hard into electric mobility through its Public Investment Fund, backing Lucid Motors and launching its own EV brand, Ceer, as part of Vision 2030.
