Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: New Murabba, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund (PIF), signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the US Green Building Council (USGBC) to advance sustainable design and next-generation green building practices across Riyadh’s new downtown, in line with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification standards.

This partnership supports the development of smart, resilient systems that will shape a more efficient and environmentally responsible urban future, the PIF company announced in a recent statement.

Under this agreement, both entities will explore advanced models such as LEED v5 and LEED for Communities, as well as opportunities to strengthen design, construction, and operational practices in line with global best practices.

The collaboration covers various areas, including knowledge exchange, training, sustainable community development, and alignment with international benchmarks that support long-term environmental performance.

Eissa Almunif, Chief Business Excellence Officer at New Murabba, said: “This MoU is an important step in our journey of learning, innovation, and sustainability. Working with the US Green Building Council allows us to explore how global best practices can shape the future of New Murabba. Our aim is to create a destination that places people, the planet, and long-term prosperity at its center.”

For his part, Peter Templeton, President and CEO of USGBC, commented: “Through this agreement, we look forward to supporting New Murabba’s commitment to building sustainability and pursuit of LEED certification. And we are excited to work together to share New Murabba’s lessons in leadership and innovation with stakeholders everywhere through education and knowledge exchange.”

Moreover, the partnership underscores New Murabba’s commitment to delivering a destination that not only meets international standards but transforms the way cities are built, setting a new standard in sustainability, smart infrastructure, and quality of life.
