Riyadh – Sharikat Mubasher: IBM and stc group announced another collaboration to help secure Saudi Arabia’s telecommunications networks against future quantum-era cyber threats.
Under the partnership, stc has adopted IBM’s quantum-safe cybersecurity solutions to assess and reinforce its current encryption and data-protection systems, aiming to stay ahead of risks posed by next-generation quantum computing, as per a recent press release.
The initiative has produced a quantum-safe framework designed to identify and mitigate cryptographic vulnerabilities before large-scale quantum computers become capable of breaking today’s encryption standards. The framework integrates advanced cryptographic tools, quantum-safe protocols, and governance measures aligned with NIST standards, strengthening stc’s network security and subscriber protection.
Abdulaziz A. Alaqil, CSDM Excellence & Engineering GM at stc group, said the move reflects the company’s focus on future-proofing its digital infrastructure as quantum technologies evolve. Meanwhile, Khaled AlOfaysan, IBM’s Country Head and Managing Partner in Saudi Arabia, noted that the partnership builds on years of collaboration to advance the Kingdom’s telecom sector.
The announcement highlights both organizations’ broader commitment to enhancing Saudi Arabia’s cybersecurity resilience as the country accelerates investments in quantum capabilities under Vision 2030.
