Riyadh – Sharikat Mubasher: The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) has introduced the ‘National AI Risk Management Framework’ to help public and private sector organizations identify, assess, mitigate, and monitor risks associated with artificial intelligence.
The framework establishes a unified national methodology for managing AI risks, which SDAIA said differ from those of traditional software because they can emerge unexpectedly, evolve over time, and be difficult to explain or reproduce.
The framework follows a four-stage risk management process covering context and scope definition, risk identification and assessment, risk treatment, and continuous monitoring and review. AI risk levels are determined using a matrix that evaluates both the likelihood of occurrence and the potential impact.
Built on seven core principles—including integrity, privacy, transparency, and accountability—the framework also categorizes AI risks into seven main types to ensure comprehensive risk coverage.
SDAIA said the initiative reinforces its role as the Kingdom's national authority for data and AI while supporting the responsible and trustworthy adoption of artificial intelligence in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
