Riyadh – Sharikat Mubasher: Saudi Telecom operator stc group announced it has signed an agreement with Astranis to deploy a dedicated satellite serving Saudi Arabia, with the spacecraft scheduled for launch in 2027 as part of Astranis’ Block 3 program.
As per a recent press release, the satellite will expand stc group’s satellite communications portfolio and strengthen connectivity and network resilience across the Kingdom, complementing its existing fiber infrastructure and satellite capacity in other orbits.
Under the agreement, stc group will have control over payload configuration and coverage, while data will remain in-region under enterprise-grade security measures. The dedicated capacity is intended to provide greater control over critical communications infrastructure and add redundancy to the Kingdom’s connectivity networks.
Commenting on this, Mohammad Alabbadi, Group Chief Carrier & Wholesale Officer at stc group, said the partnership will support secure and reliable connectivity as Saudi Arabia advances its digital infrastructure.
Meanwhile, John Gedmark, CEO and co-founder of Astranis, said the agreement will support Saudi Arabia’s broader digital infrastructure program through dedicated satellite networks.
The deal forms part of stc group’s wider investment in national digital infrastructure, with phase one of a related network agreement already underway.
