Muscat – Sharikat Mubasher: Oman Investment Authority (OIA), Oman’s sovereign wealth fund, is leading an alliance of sovereign wealth funds and investment institutions to launch a $500 million fund to attract investment opportunities in Central Asia and the Caucasus, with the founding agreement expected to be signed in early November.
As reported by Al Sharq Bloomberg, the Central Asia and Caucasus Fund will focus on sectors including logistics, renewable energy, mining, agriculture, healthcare and infrastructure, seeking to attract international capital and build long-term investment partnerships.
Mulham bin Bashir Al-Jarf, Vice Chairman of OIA for Investment, said the initiative reflects international investors’ confidence in OIA’s ability to mobilize capital and develop strategic partnerships.
The fund will be managed by an Oman-based company led by national talent, supporting investment cooperation and knowledge transfer while expanding Omani businesses’ regional presence.
OIA cited the economic potential of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, whose combined population exceeds 86 million. The five countries recorded approximately $4.64 billion in foreign direct investment inflows by the end of 2025, up 16.6% year-on-year.
OIA subsidiaries, including ASYAD Group, Oman Mining Development Company and OQ Group, are also exploring regional opportunities in logistics, mining and energy.
