Cairo – Exclusive Sharikat Mubasher: Green Cycle, an Egyptian company specializing in waste management and recycling, expanded its production capacity to meet rising demand for recycled plastic from the European Union, according to its CEO, Nedal Elsaid.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Green Shift Summit 2026, held in Cairo on October 27 and sponsored by Nahdet El Mahrousa, Elsaid said the company had previously produced mainly for the local market before growing European demand prompted it to increase production from 125 tons to 275 tons.
He attributed the surge in demand to Egypt’s lower production costs and convenient logistics, which have made the country an attractive source of recycled plastic for European buyers.
Elsaid added that artificial intelligence (AI)-powered technologies and equipment helped Green Cycle reduce operating costs by 50%, while improving productivity and enabling the company to offer more competitive prices.
The company also expanded its international reach, exporting its products to global markets, including Croatia.
Elsaid thanked the Green Shift initiative, Germany’s development cooperation agency GIZ, and Nahdet El Mahrousa for their support in helping the company grow its operations and expand into international markets.
GreenShift Summit brings together investors, industry leaders, development partners, policymakers, and entrepreneurs to explore ways to empower promising green businesses to become strong, scalable companies.
