Riyadh – Sharikat Mubasher: The King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) signed a strategic agreement with SPHERA to launch the Kingdom’s first hosting service for gaming and esports via the Saudi Internet Exchange (SAIX).
The announcement came during the New Global Sport Conference in Riyadh, as per KACST’s announcement on X.com.
The partnership marks a significant step in building advanced gaming infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, positioning the Kingdom as a regional hub for esports and digital innovation. By leveraging SAIX, a national digital gateway managed by KACST under the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the service will interconnect networks locally, ensuring faster, more stable, and more reliable connectivity.
The agreement aims to localize data and reduce reliance on foreign servers, while creating a secure environment for developers and startups to grow. It also supports the development of an enabling ecosystem for local game creators and entrepreneurs, fostering innovation and investment in the gaming and esports sector.
