Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: The total number of active commercial registrations in Saudi Arabia reached 1.7 million by the end of the second quarter (Q2) of 2025, marking a 2% increase compared to 1.68 million registrations in Q1-25, according to recent figures released by the Small and Medium Enterprises General Authority (Monsha’at).

The ‘SME Monitor Quarterly Report Q2 2025' report showed that 47% of all active registrations were female-owned enterprises, while 38% of the total number were youth-owned enterprises.

This increase was driven by the strong and persistent support for the Kingdom’s rapidly evolving private sector and the robust performance of non-oil and economic activity.

Over 80,000 commercial registrations were issued in the Kingdom in Q2-25, with Riyadh province accounting for 35.2% of the total number, with 28,181 registrations. Makkah Province secured the second spot with 14,498 registrations, followed by the Eastern Province with 12,985 registrations and the Qassim Province with 4,920 registrations.

Additionally, the total number of active e-commerce registrations recorded 39,366 by the end of Q2-25. Riyadh Province secured the largest share with 16,598 registrations, followed by Makkah Province with 10,038 registrations and the Eastern Province with 6,124 registrations.

Moreover, the report highlighted the leading role of Riyadh as a financial behemoth powering Saudi private sector growth, generating almost 50% of the Kingdom’s non-oil gross domestic product (GDP) and hosting more than 600 new regional headquarters.
