Riyadh – Exclusive Sharikat Mubasher: In an interview with Sharikat Mubasher during the LEAP 2025 Conference, Ayman Hamdan, VP of Corporate Affairs of Unifonic, Founding Partner of X by Unifonic Fund, said that the company’s investment in artificial intelligence began more than three years ago.

Hamdan stated that Unifonic has made significant strides in recent years and is focusing this year on leveraging AI to enhance customer experience across various industries.

Founded in 2006, Unifonic is one of the fastest-growing companies in Saudi Arabia. By 2014, it had processed its first billion transactions and closed a $21 million seed funding round in 2018. In 2021, the company raised $125 million to accelerate its growth.

To strengthen its tech capabilities, Unifonic acquired Systech in 2022, a company with its own AI-powered system, to further enhance its customer experience solutions.

According to Hamdan, Unifonic started as a communication platform using traditional channels like SMS and WhatsApp but has since undergone a major transformation thanks to software and AI integration.

The official explained that the company now offers solutions that reduce call center costs by 30%, along with tailored programs to automate and optimize marketing operations.

Unifonic has tested its solutions in real-world scenarios to measure their impact. In one of Saudi Arabia’s major hospitals, its AI-driven system reduced patient no-show rates by 17%, resulting in financial savings of approximately SAR 2 million per month.

Internally, Hamdan noted that Unifonic has set targets to enhance employee efficiency and reduce costs through AI.

He added that the company primarily serves financial institutions such as banks and fintech firms, in addition to government entities, retail, e-commerce, healthcare, and education sectors.

Unifonic is actively pursuing partnerships within Saudi Arabia and beyond, with a client base that has reached 1,300 businesses inside and outside the Kingdom.

The company operates in five countries: Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the UAE, Jordan, and Turkey, according to Hamdan.

Hamdan emphasized the significant support Unifonic has received from various Saudi entities, including the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the Misk Foundation, and the General Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises (Monsha’at), highlighting that this backing extends to multiple levels of partnership.

He concluded by praising the LEAP tech conference, describing it as a milestone set by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, reflecting the government’s strong commitment to this event, not just within Saudi Arabia, but across the Middle East and North Africa.

The fourth edition of the LEAP Technology Conference (LEAP25) concluded its sessions last week at the Riyadh Exhibition and Convention Center in Malham, drawing significant participation from technology leaders, investors, and international experts.

Held from February 9 to 12, the event highlighted cutting-edge digital innovations, sustainability, the knowledge economy, and the role of technology in reshaping key industries.

The conference attracted a diverse group of experts and innovators from around the world, all convening to explore the latest technological advancements and shape the future of critical sectors.
