Riyadh – Sharikat Mubasher: The Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR25) will convene in Riyadh next week, drawing delegates from more than 190 countries to discuss the next chapter of digital governance.

Hosted by Saudi Arabia’s Communications, Space and Technology Commission in partnership with the UN’s International Telecommunication Union, the event runs under the theme “Regulation for Sustainable Digital Development.”

Discussions will span artificial intelligence, sixth-generation networks, and the convergence of terrestrial and non-terrestrial systems.

Organizers describe the symposium as a milestone in global regulation, emphasizing the role of policymakers in balancing innovation with consumer protection, bridging digital divides, and supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The gathering follows Saudi Arabia’s appointment to the ITU’s digital regulation network board, reinforcing its ambition to position itself as a digital leader. Internet penetration in the Kingdom reached 99 percent in 2024.

GSR25 will conclude with a resolution capturing new regulatory principles for the post-digital era.
